St. Lawrence Stevedoring (SLS) operates a deep-water terminal in the Beauport sector at the Port of Quebec, giving it the distinction of being the closest terminal to major North American markets. Its prime location, at the very heart of the St. Lawrence Seaway, enables it to accommodate, year-round, vessels with a capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes of deadweight tonnage (DWT). This terminal also boasts a berth length of 1,120 metres and a water depth of 15.5 metres.

SLS’s facilities are not only specialized in handling dry bulk cargo, but are also the most versatile in eastern North America. Their extensive transhipment capabilities, ship-to-ship transfers and vast interior and exterior storage space make it possible to handle up to 100,000 tonnes of cargo a day. The terminal is equipped with six mobile gantry cranes, a pneumatic unloader, conventional and fluidized conveyors, automated stacking systems, a ship loader and an impressive array of heavy machinery such as wheel-mounted loaders, hydraulic shovels and crawler tractors.

The main commodities that transit through the terminal are alumina, zinc, copper and nickel concentrates, iron ore, scrap metal, raw sugar, coal products and salt.
