With a long history of handling bulk commodities, the port of Long Pond is one of the most well-established and prominent industrial areas in Conception Bay South. The wharf structure is rated for heavy load capacity and the water depth and wharf space can accommodate various commercial vessels (in addition to local usage).
A full suite of port services is available adjacent to the site, including storage and transfer facilities, a 220-ton crane pad for loading/unloading cargo and businesses providing a variety of associated services. Primary uses currently include oil distribution and receiving via an onsite pipeline, and holding facilities for several ongoing, high-capacity shipments, including animal feed, cement, rebar and iron ore and aggregates.
