The Port of Halifax is the closest port to Europe. Being ice-free 365 days of the year with a bare minimum of tides allows the vessel to save nearly 30 hours of direct shipping time while offering an infrastructure that can handle the largest of vessels.

Our operations are located in 2 terminals: Richmond and the Ocean. We handle three different types of cargo, such as general cargo, for example, heavy pipes, wire, and steel rails used to build infrastructures like bridges, roads, airports and hospitals, which are commonly moved through our terminal.

We also handle sensitive commodities such as nickel and sulfites as well as bulk cargoes like wood pellets and grain shipments. Heavy lift and project cargo can weigh up to 50 to 200 tons and includes shipments of electrical power generators and transformers for utilities, train locomotives for transporting goods, and offshore drilling installations for the oil and gas industry.
