Handling a cargo of this size is a technical and logistical challenge that matches the ingenuity of our teams.

Giant 107-meter blades

Each blade is longer than a soccer field. Their size and weight are twice as big as those we’ve been transshipping since 2004.

At 107 meters and 110 metric tons, these are the largest and heaviest wind turbine blades manufactured in North America, and therefore the largest ever loaded onto a ship.

Handling a cargo of this size is a technical and logistical challenge that matches the ingenuity of our teams. Every day, we build tailor-made solutions to meet our customers’ needs.

The phenomenal know-how of our people

To carry out this major operation, we called on the expertise of our specialists in Cacouna, Matane and Port-Daniel to lend a hand to the Gaspé team.

Our teams invested two years in planning this atypical operation, foreseeing the unforeseeable to ensure its safe and successful execution.

An operation such as this represents an exceptional opportunity to sharpen our methods and constantly push back our boundaries to deliver tailor-made success.

Accomplishing such a challenge with ease shows that there’s nothing we can’t do!

QSL is especially proud to be part of this operation contributing to the energy transition.

DID YOU KNOW?

QSL handled its first wind turbine in 2004 in Bécancour. This premiere led to a QSL innovation: the development of a new hook specially adapted for tandem handling with reach-stackers.
